Garage & Arlington County Construcion Project

May 15 Update

Thank you for your understanding as the Arlington County garage construction project has gotten underway over the last few weeks.  We are working closely with Standard Parking to assist our customers during this project.

The project is now headed into the next phase.

Effective Thursday May 16:

• The 8th floor of the garage, including the up-ramp, will close to vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
• The Glebe Rd exterior elevator will close.
• Access to the "helix" ramp in the center of the garage will be altered, and traffic patterns will change.

Due to these changes, please allow some extra time when coming to the rink, especially on weekends.  Parking is available on the 7th floor or below, and then take the elevator to the 8th floor to Kettler Capitals Iceplex.
 
These closures will be in place throughout the summer.

Additionally, The Taste of Arlington will be held this Sunday, May 19.  The Randolph St and Glebe Rd/Carlin Springs garage entrances will remain open throughout the event, but Wilson Blvd. and Stuart St. will be closed in some areas.  For event information and a street closure map, visit their website.

Kettler Capitals Iceplex will remain open with a regular schedule of public skating, lessons, hockey, and summer camps throughout this project!  We look forward to seeing you at the Rink on the Roof!

PARKING:

Bus Parking is located on Randolph Road.

Cars may park in the Ballston Public Parking Garage on levels 3-8. 

During the week parking is $1 for the first 3 hours.

NEW PARKING RATES:

Parking rates in the garage will change effective May 1, 2012

Weekday & Weekend rates will be the same:

Less than 3 hours: $1

Less than 4 hours: $3

Less than 5 hours: $5

Less than 6 hours: $6

Less than 7 hours: $7

Less than 8 hours: $8

Maximum daily Rate: $10

Evening (enter after 6pm & exit before 3am): $1

DIRECTIONS:

From the North

• From I-495 South: South on I-495 to Route 66 East (Note: I-66 East is HOV-2 only from 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.). Take Exit 71 (Fairfax Drive/Glebe Road).  Turn right onto Glebe Road. The entrance to the parking garage is on the left at the second light (Carlin Springs).

From the Northwest

• From I-270 East: East on I-270 to I-495 Northern Virginia. Follow signs to I-66 East towards Washington D.C. (Note: I-66 East is HOV-2 only from 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.). From I-66 East take Exit 71 (Fairfax Drive/Glebe Road). Turn right onto Glebe Road. The entrance to the parking garage is on the left at the second light (Carlin Springs).

From the South

• From I-95 North: North on I-95 to I-395 North. Take exit 7B (Glebe Road/Route 120 North). Continue on Glebe Road for approximately 3  miles. The entrance to the parking garage is on the right at the next light (Carlin Springs).

From the West

• From Route 66 East: East on Route 66.  (Note: I-66 East is HOV-2 only from 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.). Take exit 71 (Fairfax Drive/Glebe Road).  Turn right onto Glebe Road. The entrance to the parking garage is on the left at the second light (Carlin Springs)

From the East/Washington D.C.

• From Route 66 West: West on Route 66.  (Note: I-66 West is HOV-2 only from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.).Take exit 71 (Glebe Road). Turn left onto Glebe Road headed south and continue for approximately ¾  mile.  The entrance to the parking garage is on left at the Carlin Springs light.
• From Route 50 West: West on Route 50. Take the Glebe Road exit. Turn right onto Glebe Road headed north. The entrance to the parking garage is on the right at the next light (Carlin Springs).

From the Metro –Orange Line

• Take the Orange Line to the Ballston-MU station, at the corner of Fairfax and Stuart streets.
• Outdoor route: Exit the Ballston station and face right at the top of the escalator. Turn left onto Stuart Street and walk two blocks. You will reach the mall entrance on Wilson Boulevard.
•  Indoor route: Exit the Ballston station and proceed straight ahead through the doors under the sign “Ballston Metro Center”.  Stay right and go up the escalator.  Go straight through the glass doors and across the covered bridge.  Follow the signs to Ballston Common Mall and Regal Cinema.  Stay right and go through the glass doors and across the second covered bridge.  Enter Ballston Common Mall and proceed to the garage elevators.  Kettler is located on the 8^th Floor.

Bus Unloading and Parking

Bus parking.  If coming from Rt. 66 (likely), the bus driver should make a slight left onto Wilson Blvd then make a right onto Randolph St.  The bus parking is along side the garage.  He can park there for free long enough to unload passengers.  There’s a Tour Bus pay-station right there if he’d like to stay.  It’s a few dollars for 3 hours.

The group should walk toward the corner of Wilson Blvd & N. Randolph, entering the Mall at the corner near Bailey’s.  Proceed through the mall to the escalators and enter the parking garage through the doors on the left.  Take the garage elevators up to the 8th floor and enter the ice rink.

As you are parking the bus, you may notice an elevator built into the SIDE of the garage.  This is a private elevator and you WILL NOT be able to access it.

**Please note: the exterior Glebe Rd elevator will be out of service beginning May 14 and the 8th floor of the garage will be closed for construction, and throughout the summer.  Tours should unload then proceed back down Randolph toward Wilson Blvd.  Enter the mall at the corner entrance near Bailey's.  Walk through the mall; near the escalators, enter the parking garage and take the elevators to the 8th floor to KCI.

As you are parking the bus, you may notice another elevator that’s built into the SIDE of the garage.  This is a private elevator and you WILL NOT be able to access it.
