Capitals Academy Hockey Summer CampsSummer Hockey Camps
Summer Hockey Camps are here! Camps begin June 24. (A waitlist is available for sold out camps.) Find out about skating camps here: Capitals Academy Summer Camps are designed to develop and enhance the fundamental skills of each camper through creative instruction in a supportive and fun environment. SLAPSHOT FUN CAMPBack for another year, Slapshot’s Hockey Fun Camp is the camp everyone is talking about! Washington Capitals Mascot Slapshot will be your honorary camp director for 5 days of on and off-ice hockey surprises! Having fun is the goal of this camp!! Prerequisite:Ages 6-12. All levels are welcome, but you must have full equipment and basic hockey skating skills to participate.
June 24-28, 9:00am-5:00pm Skater: $495, Goalie: $375
CAPITALS ALL GIRLS CAMPThis fun and challenging all-day hockey camp is just for girls! Girl hockey players will have the opportunity to share their passion for hockey with one another while learning new skills & concepts both on and off the ice. There will be a daily focus on a new skill to enhance each players’ knowledge and skill set on the ice. While this camp is challenging, the emphasis of camp is FUN! Prerequisite: Ages 6-14. Players should complete at least one session of LTP or equivalent, or be House Level or Travel Level. Players will be divided by skill.
June 29-July 3, 9:00am-5:00pm Skater: $475 Goalie: $375
MITE ADM CAMPYoung hockey players will learn basic hockey skills while having fun on the ice! Each fun-filled session will include stick handling and shooting skills, as well as hockey skating instruction guided by USA Hockey’s American Development Model curriculum. Prerequisite:Ages 4-6. Must have full equipment & basic hockey skating skills to participate. Skaters should complete Jr. Hockey 1 & 2 in KCI’s Learn-to-Skate program or equivalent.
July 15-19, 10:45am—1:15pm COST: $250 GOALIE COMPETITION CAMPAre you ready to raise your game? Goalie Competition camp is designed to teach and develop the skills of goaltending. This will include “competition” stations with age appropriate shooters and specific drills to help the goaltender improve his or her game. Each daily focus will be put to the test with game-like situations throughout the week. Prerequisite: Ages 6-18. Goalies MUST have at least one season of goalie experience at the House level or above. July 15-19, 2:30pm-5:00pm COST: $425
CAPITALS TEAM PLAY CAMPPut together everything you learned throughout the summer and become a team player. Learn how to handle key game situations—from breakouts to power plays. This full-day camp includes on-ice instruction and off-ice team building exercises. A great way to build your team skills and get prepared for the upcoming season! Prerequisite: Ages 6-14. Players must have House Level, Travel Level, or Tier 1 experience for this camp. August 12-16, 9:00am-5:00pm This camp is FILLED! Add your name to the waitlist. DEKE, SCORE, & DEFENSIVE SKILLS CAMPThis camp is filled for players! Email Hockey@KettlerCapitalsIceplex.com to be added to the waitlist. (Goalie spaces are still available.) This camp combines offensive techniques and defensive skills to be a complete hockey player. Develop your goal scoring skills by working on stick handling, puck control, and shooting techniques. Players will learn the dekes and moves they need so they can be deceptive on the ice, and will develop the shots needed to increase their success putting the puck in the net. Campers will also work on the fundamentals of defense—the how’s, why’s and when’s of making the correct defensive play. Prerequisite: Ages 6-14. Players must have House Level, Travel Level, or Tier 1 experience for this camp. July 29-August 2, 9:00am-5:00pm This camp is FILLED! Add your name to the waitlist! REQUIRED GEARFULL EQUIPMENT is required for all hockey camps. Mandatory Equipment includes: Skaters: Ice skates, hockey stick, certified ice hockey helmet with full-face protection (cage or shield), mouth guard, ice hockey gloves, elbow pads, ice hockey shin guards, ice hockey pants, shoulder pads, and protective cup. Goaltenders: Certified ice hockey helmet with full-face cage or certified ice hockey goalie mask, mouth guard, catching glove, blocker, chest protector, elbow pads, ice hockey goaltender pads, goalie stick, ice skates, and protective cup.
The KCI Proshop can fit you for gear! Don't forget to get your skates sharpened before the first day of camp! You may not have time to get your skates sharpened in the morning before you camp begins. Several outside groups also run hockey camps at KCI. See links below and to the left.
